VERY RARE NORTHERN SOUL ACETATE - BARBARA MASON radio show SAD GIRL jimmy bishop

up for auction is a very rare ACETATE from 1965 .

it is TWO SIDED . it plays at 33 RPM  and is almost 10" about 9 3/4 "

on the side that has very good hand written on the label is a  JIMMY BISHOP - SOUL RADIO - WDAS PHILADELPHIA radio show that has BARABARA MASON as a special guest on it with a short interview and then her announcing her song SAD , SAD GIRL followed by the playing of the song . its her speaking on air , but the song is just the dj playing the 45 .

she mentions just getting back being on tour with gene chandler in every state , about to tour the very next day with the kingsmen ending the tour on september 12 .  states her age ( 18 years old ) . there is also mention of the album coming out in a few weeks . also on this side is PEPSI commercials/radio spots

the whole side is about five and a half minutes long including the song and commercials . barbara only speaks with jimmy for probably less than one minute .

this is definitely from 1965 , but very likely august , as she just turned 18 and the other show on the flip is dated aug 31 . plus the tour about to start , ending in september .


on the side that has Bishop teen pick aug 31 TERRY BOSTON  written on the label -  is a JIMMY BISHOP radio show - PEPSI TEEN PICK OF THE WEEK - has jimmy with a local teen guest dj  - on this one is local teen TERRY BOSTON from BROWN PREP SCHOOL - talking a little and announcing his pick " FIRST I LOOK AT THE PURSE "  which i believe is THE CONTOURS . followed by the song . also has a few PEPSI commercials mixed in .


very cool and very rare soul artifact .


this ACETATE has not been cleaned , just gently wiped off .

ACETATE    is          VG       (      some light lines marks/light scratches . some of which are slightly feelable with the edge of a fingernail . plays very well with some minor surface noise , and with some minor ticking . still an enjoyable listen , in my opinion . NO skips on my turntable with lightweight tonearm and light tracking force . there are four chips on the very outside edge , where a very slight bit of the lacquer is missing but are very stable , as is the rest of the acetate , no other flaking or anything , nice and solid .  )
