With the sound and style that they defined on their last and near-perfect album "Soldiers of the Night", Vicious Rumors continue with another excellent follow-up that could go hand in hand with their debut. This is US Power Metal with real riffs, some technical and mind-blowing riffs with Geoff Thorpe's tremendous skill and incredible songwriting.
Singer Carl Albert (Rest in peace) is undoubtedly outstanding here. Each of his lyrics sparkles with energy. His aggressive and energetic performance in the middle ranges can easily be compared to Bruce Dickinson. Vicious Rumors were truly out of this world when Carl was with them, and this is the flawless beginning of that legacy.
It's almost impossible to pinpoint the exact sound and style of Vicious Rumors and pigeonhole them into a specific genre, because you really can't. There are a few speed metal songs, a few more power metal oriented ones, a few hints of progressive structures and even a few thrashy parts from time to time. Standouts include the title track, “Minute to Kill,” “R.L.H (Run Like Hell),” and “Towns of Fire.” On the other hand, the whole album is just great, with no real low points.
Ultimately, this is an essential Vicious Rumors album and is often hailed as their best release!
