Description
This obscenely rare album by the American group Victoria was originally released under the title of Kings, Queens and Jokers in such miniscule numbers that it is virtually impossible to find. The band was headed by Greg Ruban who is joined by three female musicians. One side is largely in a psych/garage/pop vein, while the other side has two long tracks that have more of a raw progressive/psych angle to them. There are female and male vocals throughout. Here’s some of what the Acid Archives had to say about it: “An organ-based conceptual song cycle with mostly female vocals and a Khazad Doom/school-play vibe, has lots of good guitar but is too cheesy and uneven to live up to the hysterical hype, at least in my ears. Some horns, nice amateur vocals, and a confused mix of westcoast, eastcoast and teen drama. The outstanding closing track sounds like Strawberry Alarmclock's "World's on fire" with female vocals. Worth hearing, and despite reservations a must for fans of female psych rock bands.” Originally released in 1971, a copy would sell in the thousands of dollars if you were to find one. This edition is a very limited, released in 1996 on the highly acclaimed Little Indians label from Germany (later to become Shadoks), known for the high production quality of its releases. This is a hand-numbered edition of 400 copies pressed on heavy (200 gram) vinyl and housed in a massively thick and beautiful gold embossed red velvet. The cover is in E+ and the record is in E--- condition. The reserve on this item is $99.99.
Winner pays postage (in the U.S., this would be about $4.50 for one LP sent by Media Mail). Package insured upon request. Winners outside of the U.S. will be notified of postal fees, but an approximate cost for one LP to many countries is $15.50 by airmail. If you bid on and win more than one item, you WILL save on postage! Note: I do not gouge on postage and packaging costs. Record will be carefully packaged in a strong, oversized LP mailer. In addition to money orders and checks, I also accept PayPal. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. E-mail: david.o@jjldj.com. This week I am mainly listing psychedelic or acid rock and psych-related albums (many of them the kind of thing that gets listed in Acid Archives if it happens to be by an American artist or band).
