Description

I have for auction a Vintage Original 1960s Dansette Viva Portable Record Player.

I have tested it and confirm that it is working although has probably been unused for a very long time and would benefit from a service to bring it up to its former glory.

I tested all speeds - 78rpm, 45rpm, 33rpm, 16rpm as well as the auto-play function and all appears to be working OK. Tone-arm returns when playing finished. I played a 45rpm (which I am familiar with) and it sounded true so appears to have no fluctuation of speed at least at 45rpm (haven't fully tried the other speeds).

There is a low hum at low volumes which I guess is present but hidden at higher volumes. The treble and volume/on-off buttons work OK - a little "burr" when volume control is turned at a particular point.

No doubt it needs a new stylus.

It would appear to be complete with only the decorative ends of the 2 control buttons missing. Has the screws present which are used to prevent movement of the floating deck when in transit. I have photographed the inner workings to show that it still has the original Mullard Valves. I didn't want to photograph the workings of the deck for fear of damaging it - not sure how this bit comes apart.

Has some nicks here and there to casing and front decorative pieces needs regluing plus there is some rusting to the catches and handles.

I have given it a little clean but it would require a diligent clean to improve it further.

An honest example of a classic 1960s iconic Record Player which would not require much effort to obtain a nice end result.
