Vintage Portable/Compact Wind-Up Decca Gramophone.
A well-preserved and working vintage, compact Gramophone. The Gramophone case measures 30cm in width, 30cm in depth and 20cm in height; the upper and lower parts of the case are of equal measurement. There are some small, patches of slight corrosion on some of the smaller chrome fittings but this relatively scarce model is otherwise in very good condition including the original textured rexine-covered case. The colour of the rexine covering is not immediately apparent but is actually a dark green; it is more evident on the internal sections. The chromium sound-box arm and sound reflecting bowl are a really scarce feature of this model and create a very distinctive, perhaps spectacular appearance. There are some spare needles in the covered needle compartment and the machine plays well and at a surprising volume - ideal perhaps for picnic accompaniment ( for some! ). The overall weight of the machine by itself is 4.9kg.
This is a relatively scarce compact vintage model and in unusually good condition thus lending itself for actual use and amusement - perhaps a novelty attraction during one of this summer's garden barbecues or it may be of interest the collector or the 78rpm enthusiast who would be able to listen to such records as they were designed to be heard.
