Description
These are part of my family's large collection of Russian 78's, which mostly came from my great-aunt, who passed away in the 1980's. Since then, they've been stored away, out of heat and light.
There are 9 records in this lot by various singers and record labels and are described as follows:
NASTIA POLIAKOVA, "When We Parted" (#B-6), and "Fatal Hour" (#B-9), on the Seva Record Co. label, made in the U.S.A.
GEORGE de SEVERSKY, "Song Of The Sea" (#20376-F) accompanied by Gleb Yellin Ensemble, and "Indifference" (20376-F), with Gleb Yellin at the Piano, on Columbia's red label, and
"Enchanting Song" (20379-F), and "You Never Loved Me" (20379-F), with Gleb Yellin at the piano, on Columbia's red label.
RED ARMY CHOIR OF THE U.S.S.R., "A Cliff On The Volga" (#K221A), and "The Mountains Of The Causasus" (#K221B), on the Keynote Recordings label, which states, "Originals Made In USSR 1939." This record has some warping along the rim, but it does not affect the songs.
LILIA CHERNOVA, "The Hobo" (#6260A), and "Gypsy Wine Song" (#6260B), on the Stinson Trading Co. black label, recorded in the Soviet Union.
The next three records are completely, or mostly, in Russian (one is in French), and I tried to get as clear a photograph of each as I could:
The French Odeon black label is #279.261, and it appears that it was recorded in France.
There are 2 records on the green Columbia label:
#E4446 - the label states in English, "Made and Pat'd in USA, Jan. 21 '13, and May 22 '23." The singer is "M. SCARPIOFF, Tenor." There is a small chip on the rim, which does not affect the playing of the record.
#E7912, "D. MEDOFF, Tenor," and the label states, "Made and Pat'd in USA, Aug. 11 '08, Jan. 21 '13, and May 22 '23."
The last record is on the dark red Kismet Record Company label and was recorded in Soviet Russia, #R202A and R-202B. That's all I can read on this label, except that it was "Made in USA."
There are scratches and smudges on each record, some have more than others, but I played them all and could hear each one clearly, even when there was a bit of fuzziness in the background on some of them. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
I will include delivery confirmation when I mail these records, so please include an additional .75 to cover that charge. Thank you so much.
