Description

“Fibre” needles used to play 78 r.p.m. records were made from cane which had been hardened and dried. The Davey Cutter was used like a pair of scissors. A finely ground, hard steel blade slides in a dove-taoled groove to cut a triangular cross section in the wood leaving a sharp point which was resharpened as, with use on the records, it wore down. The early adverts state thatthe Davey Cutter was "the only one of its kind".
