50 Years Of The Comedy Store A story told through five albums and six LPs that captures the Store’s greatest comedians in each of its major milestone decades.
Establishing the first stand-up venue of its kind proved arduous. Mitzi oversaw the business and staff, booked lineups, worked the ticket booth, scrubbed the bathrooms, created a development system, harangued/charmed reps and execs via phone and nursed talent through obstacles from homesickness to addiction. Mitzi became known as The Godmother of Comedy to generations of talent that would include Richard Pryor, David Letterman, Jay Leno, Robin Williams, Andy Kaufman, Whoopi Goldberg, Michael Keaton, Freddie Prinze, Arsenio Hall, Andrew ‘Dice’ Clay, John Witherspoon, Paul Mooney, Howie Mandel, Garry Shandling, Byron Allen, Richard Lewis, George Wallace, Roseanne Barr, Damon Wayans, Bob Saget, Louie Anderson and Cheech & Chong.
