Van Der Graaf Generator, Aerosol Grey Machine. This is the original 1975 German re-issue of their debut USA only 1969 album released while Peter Hamill was still signed to Mercury and never released in the UK (test pressings do exist!), until the mid-1970's when the German re-issues were imported back into the UK. The printed in Germany glossy sleeve is in EX Condition, the plain inner is in EX condition & the Record is in EX Condition. With great tracks from VDG including; 'Necromancer & Running Back'! With the solid blue & silver Fontana labels and 1/Y 2/Y matrices & A-1 1-P stampers of the very 1st Presses! Please see full description & pictures below.... Description
Original German Fontana label stereo press LP.The first album by Van Der Graaf Generator was recorded during July and released in September 1969 in the USA. The band had first been formed in 1967 by Peter Hammill & Chris Judge Smith and by 1968 had been gigging, even supporting Hendrix. They signed to Mercury Records and recorded demo's, but by 1968 broke up, leaving Hammill to record what was supposed to be a solo album in July. During the sessions the band reformed and signed to Charisma, on condition that Mercury would end the old contract. This led to their first album only being released in the USA in September that year. They recorded their second album 'At Least We Can...' in December and started to have greater success, especially in Italy. By 1972 the band had split up again, but they reformed in 1975, at which point Mercury finally allowed their European subsiduary Fontana to release their first album in Europe, but not in the UK! So record shops imported the German made discs into the UK..... Ho Hum!
This is the original German re-issue with the solid blue & silver paper labels (later copies have plasticated labels) and the 1/Y 2/Y matrices & A-1 1-P stampers of the very first pressings. The Printed In Germany glossy sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some corner/edge wear and some light storage rubbing on the cover, but with a small sticker mark on one corner. The spine is intact, slightly abraded and mostly readable and the plain inner is intact & in EX+ condition. The record is in visually EX+ condition, with only a couple of faint hairlines visible on each side. The labels are in EX+ condition, undamaged, clean & bright with evidence of one or two small spindle markings on each side.
The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with no loud crackle or hiss and definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves. Overall, it is a really great, loud & clear listen.
The matrix nos. are; AA-6430083, 1/Y mother stamper A-1, 2/Y mother stamper 1-P. This is one of the earliest pressings of the original 1975 UK stereo reissue of this rare 1969 album!
All lp's are sent in cardboard record mailers with plastic covers and cardboard stiffeners to protect the LP's!! UK Signed For Postage is £4.50 for the first LP & is the same for up to four single LP's or two double LP's or more up to 2kg.

All Airmail is limited to 5 or 6 lp's due to 2kg weight restrictions.
