Van Halen “City Nights/ Valerie’s Delight” Live Double LP 1983 US Fest vinyl. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Media Mail. Vinyl is near mint/ not even played once in full. The outer sleeve has slight bends and edge wear (see pictures). This is a recording of Van Halen’s famous performance at the US Festival, headlining the iconic Heavy Metal Day on Sunday, May 29, 1983. The lineup also featured Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, Triumph and Scorpions. Triumph probably showed up and said, “what are we doing here, eh?” It is a rare but collected bootleg pressing, with sound quality not the priority. It is called City Nights on the outer sleeve cover, but Valerie’s Delight on the record’s label. This may be because the buxom model on both sides bears a facial resemblance to Valerie Bertinelli, the ex-wife of late guitar legend Eddie Van Halen (RIP) and mom to Wolfie. The major boobage belies it being her, as it did not match her figure circa “One Day at a Time.” As a successful and still beautiful celebrity chef of late on the Food Network, however, she might now be able to pull it off. The album is dedicated to the “Wild Man west of the Rockies,” a mysterious figure I imagined to be a cross between Ted Nugent and the titular Bandit from “Smokey and the Bandit.” After digging around online, I discovered he is/ was a known bootlegger and trader of Van Halen shows also known as “Rockin’ Roger”. Though the cover image is a tad risqué (I purchased it as a hormonal teen... go figure) and a lot sexist, the album gives special thanks to Mike the Loser, so at least we know they were inclusive.
