Description
I am offering for auction Van Morrison ASTRAL WEEKS.This is an original 1968 first pressing in stereo on the earliest Warner Bros. orange label.
The record and matrix numbers are;WS1768 A/1 B/1 very earliest. A 1 Stampers
Is becoming increasingly rare on this earliest pressing label.
A superb record by Van the Man.Considered by some to be his best.Certainly one of the most sought after particularly this early pressing on this label.
Vinyl Description Exc.
Visual inspection reveals a nice clean surface with evidence of playing but well cared for and is in very good condition on heavy vinyl. Some paper scuffs and hairlines which do not detract from listening enjoyment when record is playing. The record lies perfectly flat on the turntable and shows no visible warp when spinning. The labels are immaculate with no writing or marks;they are the early bright orange design. There are spindle traces around centre hole but considering this record is thirty-nine years old it is in fantastic condition.
The audio quality is superb! Crystal clear sound from this heavy vinyl. Some occasional soft crackle in some quiet passages and the occasional static tic or click. No audible distortion over the full dynamic range.Stunning bass. It plays without sticking or jumping.
Cover Description
Laminated flip-back cover by Garrod and Lofthouse which still looks and feels very decent.Virtually no wear to spine or top edges. Some rubbing wear to corners and some laminate creasing .Reverse side shows and some finger marks and blemishes but flip backs are sound. The inner sleeve is the original poly-lined in good condition.
Overall features
- Very earliest pressing A/1 B/1becoming increasingly rare.
- Heavy vinyl giving stunning audio quality
- Van's most sought after on this early label.
