We try to honestly categorise records and covers, but obviously opinion over 'condition' will vary from person to person. Because I listen to a lot of records, I tend to be a harsh critic. As such, we tend to be conservative with our assessments on the basis that that approach is less likely to result in disagreement. So, just bear in mind that to a lot of people our records will appear and actually play much better than the description!

About ALW Vinyl

ALW Vinyl is an offshoot of Hi-Fi Hub a leading buyer, reseller and restorer of used and vintage hi-fi equipment (search ALWHi-FiHub on eBay, if you are interested). The vast majority of the records sold on this portal are records that have been bought as collections from people with very high end audio equipment. As such, in the main, the records will have been: stored correctly, well handled and cared for and very often cleaned on wet/dry record cleaners to further preserve the precious grooves.

The care that these records have received is continued by ourselves and they are stored correctly in our stores. In addition, every record that we sell individually, will be professionally wet cleaned prior to despatch. This ensures that the record will reach you in the best condition possible and is unlikely to generate static for some considerable time. This should greatly enhance your listening pleasure.

Consequently, you can be confident that records bought from ourselves will meet your expectations as: we never knowingly overdescribe a record or cover's condition, we take care to ensure that records are packed well for postage and we aim for optimum satisfaction from all of our customers.

Rightly or wrongly, the majority of the records that we buy have to pass my 'personal taste' test and so, the majority of our listings will be from the 1970's onwards. As we tend to add new listings in batches, as time permits, please follow us to get regular updates on our new listings and feel free to ask if there is any particular title that you are looking for from the 70s, 80's or later.

If you do have a problem with a record that you buy, please don't just fire off poor feedback; Instead, please just contact us through eBay and we can decide upon the best course of action. We are building a sustainable long term business here and it is not in our interests to have dissatisfied customers.

All of our records are photographed prior to being advertised, although the photos may not be put in the actual listing. In addition, all of records and covers have been invisibly marked. In the event of a return we will check that the record and the cover are what was actually despatched prior to a refund being issued.
