Velvet Underground Andy Warhol w/Banana US Verve ST LP

About This Record.  This is a yet another cool record from my collection.  This is a vintage stereo airbrushed-out Torso back cover USA Verve Records copy of the Velvet Underground's first LP with Andy Warhol's banana on the front cover.  This banana is 99% intact; peeled at top and replaced; one small chip missing; see my photos and zoom in.  Rest of the cover is pretty ripped because of lots of tape and stuff; see detailed description below.  Lou Reed and Nico and Sterling Morrison and John Cale Thank you all!

Cover Condition.  Cover is in Good condition (lots of tape!); Andy Warhol slightly peeled and carefully replaced banana is in great EX/better condition!  Cover has lots of tape and small intials "F.P." in black market top front right corner.  Also tape removed from where the vinyl slides in and out that scuffs the cover.  BUT The banana is 99% intact with one small piece missing.  Stem has tear at top as usual, and a few other tears on the inside (see photos).  Original orange hue colored banana.  Airbrushed out torso back cover.  Tough to find an original banana this nice.  See photos.  The torso is airbrushed out on the back of the gatefold cover as you can see from the photos.

Vinyl Condition.  Good+/better.  Plays through fine with no skips or jumps or sticks but has light background noise and a few very Noticeable scuffs on each side, but glossy vinyl.  More noticeable background noise in lighter songs like Femme Fatale, Here She Comes and Sunday Morning, I have heard worse but absolutely not a keeper copy for anyone who wants to hear Nico at her best in these quiet parts, but otherwise plays strong.   Many EX moments in louder songs; prior owner did not have the patience for the slower songs it appears.  Lots of gloss on the vinyl, but it was played very roughly, some noticeable scratches on each side, including a couple of feelers, some of which needed addressing.  But I just played this again and it sounds great on my super expensive Benz LP cartridge which was no worse for the wear afterwards.

Paper Innersleeve.  The original Verve Records paper innersleeve is included which is in EX+/better condition (usual folded corner and light wear)

Label Condition. Labels are EX+ on one side with light wear; VG on other side because of small markings. (see photos)

About Me.  I have been a Record Collector for over 35 years. With a child in college, I often sell records so I can buy more vinyl.  99% of what I sell is vinyl; read my Feedback! Common LPs are a waste of your time and mine!    I bought this many years ago during my travels and have kept in well preserved.  This comes cleaned on my VPI record cleaning machine and housed in a new rice paper equivalent sleeve, and plastic sleeve, and original plain inner sleeve.
