Description

Live at Max's Kansas City is a live album by the Velvet Underground recorded at the famous nightclub and restaurant at 213 Park Avenue South in New York. This mono radio/promo copy was released on May 30, 1972, by Cotillion, a subsidiary label of Atlantic Records. The tapes for this release was recorded on August 23, 1970, by Andy Warhol associate Brigid Polk on a portable cassette recorder. This show was the last concert that Lou Reed played with the Velvet Underground. She recorded both the early and the late set. The line-up at the concerts consisted of Reed, Yule, lead guitarist Sterling Morrison and drummer Billy Yule, the younger brother of Doug Yule; regular drummer Maureen Tucker temporarily left the group several months earlier when she became pregnant with her first child, Kerry "Trucker" Tucker. This is a previous radio station copy with the only flaw is the station call letters hand written on the album front and back jacket. Overall the jacket is in very good condition with the original blank sleeve and white Cotillion label. The vinyl was rarely played and is very clean. Cotillion Records was a subsidiary of Atlantic Records and was active from 1968 through 1985.
