Description
This is an October 1971 copy of the Velvet Underground and Nico's self-titled album produced by Andy Warhol in 1967. Track list is classic - 'Heroin', 'I'm waiting for the Man' etc etc.
It's one of very few (?) copies pressed in the USA for Verve records but released in the UK with its original US cover featuring a peelable banana (see below).
On MGM/Verve 2315056. Matrix Numbers are 2315056 A//1▼420 and 2315056 B//1▼420. Stereo recording.
Label is blue and gold with lion crest. Thick vinyl in very good condition with only a few scuffs and marks .
As can be seen from the picture of the unlaminated gatefold cover printed by MacNeill, the banana skin is missing. Otherwise the gatefold cover is in good condition except for a small split in the top fold of the cardboard sleeve and some dirt, but no ringwear or discolouration to pictures. Spine is intact and readable.
Colour on outer sleeve; b+w on inner sleeve notes and pictures.
Top left handside of the back cover has the serial number V6-5008. May be the original Verve catalogue number once covered by MGM 231056 label?
