It doesn't get much more legendary than this! The album itself needs no introduction: the beyond-seminal debut  of the Velvet Underground, in which producer/mentor Andy Warhol paired Lou Reed, John Cale and the rest with Austrian model/chanteuse/enigma Nico. What makes this particular copy a true rarity in this day and age is the cover. As most people know, Warhol designed a unique, peelable sticker cover for the LP's initial release. Given that many listeners couldn't resist the temptation to "peel slowly and see," and future pressings omitted the sticker feature (as well as the exponential growth of the band's popularity since its demise), intact "sticker covers" have become increasingly hard to come by. What we have here is a beautiful specimen of an intact copy. Apart from a small nick at the top and a small tear towards the tip, the banana is in gorgeous condition; there is a small surface mark on the vinyl itself, but the record plays well. This particular copy is actually the third pressing; initial runs were recalled following a lawsuit from actor Eric Emerson over the use of his image being projected over the band on the back cover. This version, released in early 1968, has his likeness airbrushed out. Bid now, and feel just like Jesus' son!

Looking for more? In addition to our weekly auctions, we maintain a fixed-price inventory in our eBay store, not to mention on another big online retail site, both under the name zzy49. In addition we have a completely seperate inventory in our actual store; you are welcome to call us if you're looking for something. Our own website is Planet-Records.com (no external links allowed on eBay -- you'll have to cut and paste that). We are happy to combine shipping to save you money!

SHIPPING DETAILS
  • We would like to offer insurance, but eBay has instituted a new policy disallowing sellers from adding an insurance option.
  • We'll combine shipping costs on multiple wins (or store purchases) to save money for the buyer.
  • We are professionals and pack with extreme care: you can trust us. However, we know some customers may have specific requirements for how their items are to be packed. Please confirm any such packing requests with us before bidding to be sure we can accomodate you.
PAYMENT DETAILS
  • Massachusetts residents must pay sales tax because we are a Massachusetts business.
  • We accept PayPal and credit cards by phone (Visa, Mastercard and Discover only).
  • We're sorry, but we cannot accept personal checks as payment.
  • Winners, please contact us within four days. If we do not receive payment from you within three weeks, we reserve the right to cancel the transaction and report you as a non-paying bidder.
IF SHIPPING TO ITALY, PLEASE NOTE!
  • Due to the mail theft epidemic in the Italian post office system, all packages destined for Italy now must use Priority Mail service. Priority Mail includes package tracking and insurance and the packages are much less likely to get "lost" this way. We won't make any exceptions to this policy; we've already lost hundreds of dollars due to numerous packages magically disappearing in Italy.
