LOT DESCRIPTION, PLEASE READ
This LOT comprises TWO ITEMS:
#1) Now very seldom seen official 1988 numbered limited edition box featuring The Velvet Underground & Nico now iconic LP produced by Andy Warhol, including the original HMV insert and the original HMV 12 page stapled booklet. 
#2) 1966 photo from Blackstar agency sized approximately 10" x 8" featuring Warhol's Exploding Plastic Inevitable, printed on heavy paper/card stock. 
His Master's Voice (HMV) began as the retail division of the Gramophone Company and evolved into a cornerstone of the UK music retail scene.
Artist Francis Barraud's 1898 painting "His Master's Voice" depicting his dog, Nipper, listening to a phonograph was bought by The Gramophone Company in 1899 when the image became their iconic trademark.
Facing significant challenges with the rise of digital music HMV was acquired by Sunrise Records in February 2019.
BIOGRAPHY
The Exploding Plastic Inevitable (EPI) was a groundbreaking multimedia performance series created by Andy Warhol in 1966 that fused art, music, film, and live performance into a chaotic and immersive sensory experience. 
Central to the EPI were The Velvet Underground, Warhol's protégé band known for their raw, experimental sound, and Nico, a German singer and model who Warhol insisted join the group, adding an icy, hypnotic vocal presence. 
The performances featured live music accompanied by strobing lights, multiple overlapping Warhol film projections, mirrored balls, and provocative dancing by Factory regulars like Gerard Malanga and Mary Woronov, creating a hallucinatory environment that mirrored the psychedelic and avant-garde spirit of the era. 
The EPI toured various venues including The Dom in New York and The Fillmore in San Francisco, confronting audiences with a radical blend of art and music that broke down traditional performance boundaries and laid the foundation for the multimedia concert experiences of the future. 
The Velvet Underground and Nico's cult status was cemented while Andy Warhol’s influence redefined the intersection of pop culture and experimental art.
Leo Castelli opened an art gallery on New York’s 77th Street in 1957 with the intention of showing the best of contemporary American art. It was here that Andy Warhol debuted his Flowers paintings in November 1964, mere months after having had a major show at Ileana’s Galerie in Paris. 
In 1966 Warhol's iconic screen print of a banana on laminated plastic was exhibited.

Little or no signs of previous playing to the vinyl, both label's still clean and tidy with no handwriting or graffiti or notable spindle wear. Outer collectors box is beautiful, still very tight, original, with only some minor discoloration and color toning with age. The original hype sticker and original price ticket are both still attached. 
Additionally, please reassure yourself of condition by referring to the many large photographs provided which accompany this description and are of the actual box set and press photo you are buying. 
The press photograph included with this LOT is approximately 10" x 8" and well worn with foxing, discoloration, creasing and some minor separation to front and rear. 
This photograph did not come with the HMV issue, it is one I have had for some time and fits into the box nicely, but please note no provenance is offered with it.
