SEALED (S): Vinyl/CD Factory sealed.

MINT (M):

Vinyl
Absolutely perfect in every way. Certainly never been played, possibly even still sealed. Should be used sparingly as a grade, If at all.

CD
Perfect. No scuffs/scratches, unplayed - possibly still sealed.
Insert/Inlay/Booklet/Sleeve/Digipak: Perfect. No wear, marks, or any other imperfections - possibly still sealed.


NEAR MINT (NM or M-):

Vinyl
A nearly perfect record. Many dealers won't give a grade higher than this implying (perhaps correctly) that no record is ever truly perfect. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. A 45 RPM or EP sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling. An LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves and the like. Basically, an LP in near mint condition looks as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap.

CD
Near perfect. No obvious signs of use, it may have been played - but it has been handled very carefully.
Insert/Inlay/Booklet/Sleeve/Digipak: Near Perfect. No obvious wear, it may have only the slightest of marks from handling.

VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+):

Vinyl
Generally worth 50 percent of the Near Mint value. A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount. In general, if not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint. All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find a Very Good Plus record highly acceptable.

CD
A few minor scuffs/scratches. This has been played, but handled with good care - and certainly not abused.
Insert/Inlay/Booklet/Sleeve/Digipak: Slight wear, marks, indentations, it may possibly have a cut-out hole (or similar).

VERY GOOD (VG):

Vinyl
Generally worth 25 percent of Near Mint value. Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them. Goldmine price guides with more than one price will list Very Good as the lowest price. This, not the Near Mint price, should be your guide when determining how much a record is worth, as that is the price a dealer will normally pay you for a Near Mint record.

CD
Quite a few light scuffs/scratches, or several more-pronounced scratches. This has obviously been played, but not handled as carefully as a VG+.
Insert/Inlay/Booklet/Sleeve/Digipak: More wear, marks, indentations than a VG+. May have slight fading, a small tear/rip, or some writing.

Assolutamente perfetto in tutto. Mai suonato, si tratta di dischi nuovi di fabbrica ma non sigillati o dischi comprati ma mai suonati e conservati con molta cura.

CD
Perfetto in ogni sua parte (inserti/inlay/booklet/copertina/digipak). Mai suonato.
Nessun segno o imperfezione

Near Mint (NM or M-):

Vinyl
Quasi perfetto. Il disco non mostra i segni di deterioramento, potrebbero esserci piccolissimi difetti quasi impercettibili come alone del disco sulla copertina o impronte di manate sul vinile. La copertina non ha pieghe strappi, tagli o altri difetti. Stesso dicasi per busta interna ed eventuiali inserti o posters.

CD
Quasi perfetto. Il disco non mostra i segni di deterioramento è stato maneggiato con cura.
inserti/inlay/booklet/copertina/digipak quasi perfetti.

Very Good Plus (VG+):

Vinyl
Un disco VG+ generalemente vale il 50% di uno NM o M-. Il disco mostra i tipici segni di ascolto ma è stato maneggiato con cura, si pèossono notare leggeri segni e/o leggeri graffi che non infuiscono sull'ascolto. Il suono è decisamente "OK". L'etichetta potrebbe avere scoloriture ed altri segni di deterioramento, la copertina, la busta interna ed eventuali inserti potrebbero avere pieghe sugli angoli e le costole potrebbero essere leggermente abrasi e/o presentare piccole aperture. Vengono giudicate VG+ anche le coprtine di quei dischi che presentano un taglio sull'angolo o un buco circolare come usavano fare i negozi per identificare un disco scontato. In generale, un disco GV+ è ancora un disco accettabile e godibile nel suono.

CD
Pochi segni e/o graffi leggeri che non influiscono sul suono, non ci sono salti, ill disco non si incanta e suona alla perfezione. Inserto/inlay/booklet/copertina/digipak hanno segni di usura, potrebbero mancare alcuni dentini dove è ancorato il cd, la copertina potrebbe essere forata per identificare un prodotto venduto ad un prezzo scontato (come succedeva per i vinili).

Very Good (VG):

Vinyl
Un disco VG vale generalmente il 25% di uno NM o M-. Tutti i difetti elencati per i dischi VG+ sono adesso maggiormente pronunciati. Il disco suona con fruscio, molto evidente nei passaggi più soft e/o tra un pezzo e l'altro, ma in ogni caso non sovrastano la musica. I segni su vinile sono più evidenti e si percepiscono sui polpastrelli, infleuendo sulla qualità del suono. La copertina e/o l'etichetta potrebbe avere delle scritte, adesivi o residui di adesivo. In ogni caso tutti questi difetti non devono presentarsi tutti insiemealtrimenti parliamo di un disco in condizioni G+ o peggiori.

CD
Anche in questo caso i difetti del CD VG+ sono qui più pronunciati.
Inserto/inlay/booklet/copertina/digipak anno segni evidenti di usura cme scritte, scoloriture o aperture.
