Very Rare Nirvana Instore Sampler Record

Item Description

I will try to give as detailed and accurate a description as
I can here - but I'm not a collector of rare records. You
will see from my ebay shop that I normally sell information
products. As you would expect, being the 'ebay orientated'
one in the family my brother collared me and asked me to sell
this for him.

It is an 'In store sampler' which I believe is a record that
is never put on general release, but is given to a few chosen
music stores and radio DJ's.
The recorded band is Nirvana.
It states on the cover that it is for 'promotional use only'.
Released by Sub Pop records, I noticed via their website
that their general releases have serial numbers like
this - 'SP54' whereas this record has the number 'SPDJ24' -
I guess the addition of 'dj' into the number relates to
it being a sampler.
It plays at 33RPM. Here is the tracklist information -

A side

1. Love buzz (3.23)
(Paramount theatre, Seattle 31.10.94)

2. Aneurysm (4.36)
(London 5.11.94)

3. About a girl (2.33)
(Outake 1990)

4. In bloom (4.31)
(Unissued version, May 1990)

5. Pen cop chew (2.58)
(First take 1988)

B Side

1. Downer (1.41)
(First take 1988)

2. Blandest (3.55)
(Early Version 1988)

3. Molly's lips (1.56)
(Hollywood 15.2.90)

4. Breed (3.05)
(demo version)

5. Turnaround (2.17)
(outake 1991)

6. Drain you (3.37)
(Aftershow at the STAYING POWER CLUB, Chicago 1993)

Interestingly, track 6 (Drain You) is missing off of
the actual sticker on the b side of the record.
Whether it's actually on the record I don't know (I'm
not putting a needle anywhere near those valuable
grooves) but the above track list is copied from the
sticker on the sleeve (please see pictures above and below)

It was purchased at some point (about 5 years ago?)
from Reddington's rare records in
Birmingham, UK. It is still in
their bag, and on the plastic protection cover
bag that it is in, it still has two of their
stickers. One of them says 'promo only' and the
other says £250.

My brother tells me that his friend bought it from this
shop for this price before he became the owner. Obviously
someone could have stuck that sticker on to decieve, but it
looks genuine and the amount has not been tampered with in
my opinion.

I have tried to show as much detail as possible in the
pictures - please go to the bottom of this listing for
the full spread of photographs.

My brother would like to reach the £250 ($448 US) level as he
believes this to be it's minimum value so after asking my
advice I suggested starting the auction at £50 ($90 US)

Please email me at sales@a1deal.co.uk with any queries.

Happy bidding.

RIP Kurt and thanks.Keep it going Dave.
Item Condition
Myself or my brother have not played this record. If you
examine it's condition - you can see it has barely  been played.
There are a few little giveaway marks but you have to look
carefully from an angle.
If you hold it at arm's length it looks brand new. But if you
hold it sideways looking into the light you can see a few
very light needle marks.
NONE of these marks look like they would make  any sound - I imagine there would be
no jumps or interference from these marks that would
affect the enjoyment of the listener.

To summarize - I would say it has barely been played -
maybe 3 or 5 times at most. It is in very good condition  and I imagine playing it would sound new.

On a scale of 1-100 I would give it 99% for condition.
