This First pressing Mono record is in very good condition!
Visually the vinyl has a number of light marks which do not affect play.
This record sounds great with very little crackling.
Plays all the way through with no skips.
Cover is in excellent condition with a taped seam split on the top and bottom, No tears or writing.
What makes this version so rare is the back cover of the Band
When the single Walk-Don't Run hit the charts, it shot up to #2 quite rapidly.Bob Reisdorf, of Dolton Records, hurried to
Get the boys in the studio to record enough additional tunes to create an LP,
and get them out on the road for appearances.
In the scramble, he forgot to do a photo shoot for the front cover,
which needed to be in color, so he got some Dolton employees to pose
for the pic you always see on the front.
For the back, they used one of the B&W promo shots they already had.
Since the Ventures were brand new, and people didn't yet know what they looked like,
as soon as a batch of the the LPs hit the shelves, there were complaints of confusion
about the front & back people not being the same, so, "Which ones were The Ventures?"
Dolton immediately halted distribution, and just so happened that one of their
employees was a sketch artist, who came up with an outline sketch of the B&W photo
and they reprinted them with the now known sketch cover.
Nobody knows how many with the real photo got out there, but they are extremely rare
