Description
Born Ethel Agnes Zimmerman in Astoria, Long Island City in 1909, Ethel Merman made her name in the 1930 Broadway musical Girl Crazy and from then on, her star brightened the stage in such productions as Anything Goes, Red Hot and Blue, DuBarry Was a Lady, Annie Get Your Gun and Call Me Madam. This Victor features Merman singing “Satan’s Little Lamb” from Americana and “I Gotta Right To Sing the Blues” from Earl Carroll’s Vanities, both recorded September 29, 1932. Scuff. Condition E--
NOTE: I grade records by a rating system that has been standard in the industry for decades. Still, it can be a subjective undertaking. I am more likely to grade by how the record reproduces aurally (I use a 78 Shure cartridge with a 1950s Voice of Music turntable that has been fit into a 1946 Magnavox Belvedere radio-phonograph) than by how it looks visually. Sometimes a record that appears substantially worn plays very well and sometimes the opposite is true.
