Description
Collectors, here is a fun disc, Victor Monarch announced one sided 10 inch #1293. Banjo virtuoso Vess Ossman plays his version of the "William Tell Overture", with piano. Spirited playing, has to be heard to be believed, a great listen! Back sticker shows cost of $1.00 and a January 1, 1904 date. The record plays loud and very well with minimal surface noise.
Pretend it is 1904 and you want to have a phonograph. You could get an Edison cylinder machine (Standard model is $20, Gem is less) and buy 2 minute cylinders for 50 cents (35 cents by mid-1904). Or, you could get one of the new Victor machines (the II model is $30) and pay $1.00 for a three minute record. Which would you choose? In 1904, most people chose the Edison machine. This record is super rare, if this is what you like, do not pass it up!
Shipping to USA addresses only. $4.95 media mail postage and handling, record will be carefully packed and shipped in a new box. Please pay within 24 hours of purchase and I will leave you positive feedback when I ship the record, your positive feedback much appreciated!!
