Description
Victor Toy Phonograph Record
This is the one record that came with the Victor Toy Phonograph, first introduced by Eldridge Johnson in 1900. (The machine is pictured here simply to show what it looked like; however, in this listing you are bidding on the record ONLY. The machine is being sold in a separate auction; just search my listings and you'll find it.)
This is an extremely rare record, as it was only sold with the machine. But what makes it especially desirable for collectors is the fact that it is the first double-sided record ever issued, and the only 2-sided disc Victor offered to the public until they officially introduced double-faced discs in 1908.
The example offered here has been well-played and one side has an edge chip into several playing grooves. However, the record sounds fine and plays well. This is the very disc that was sold with the machine previously referred to. Perhaps they'll stay together!
