This record was cleaned and inspected on August 31, 2017. It has numerous surface marks and surface scratches. There are no major defects like cracks or destroyed areas from surface deposits that would keep it from playing. The pictures are high definition and provided as part of the product description. Please review them thoroughly.
General Comments on 78 rpm shellac. These records range in age from 60 to 80 years old. Shellac records are very brittle and are easily cracked, chipped, or broken. They are not High Fidelity, Stereophonic sound. In addition in the era they were manufactured and played, automatic record changers were popular. This meant records were dropped on each other by the changer. The result is the surface produces back ground noise (ticks and clicks and periodic pops). This is a characteristic sound that has become well know as the sound of an “old” record.
These records range from “Vintage” to “Antique” and represent some artist’s last recorded works.
Shipping shellac records takes extra care to protect the record. You must start with a record shipping box that is designed to resist bending. Additional support must be used around the record and no free motion allowed once packed inside the shipping box.
One never knows what the shipping box will be subjected to during handling but I have not lost a 78 shellac record yet.
The sleeve is a paper sleeve from the period the record was produced.
