Description
You may well have heard the song Fairytale of New York at least a few times in the last few weeks. When first released in 1987 it became The Pogues biggest hit and this album was released the following year. To say this album was well-received it is putting it mildly.
The NME, the UK’s leading music paper of the time, wrote:
"If I Should Fall from Grace with God sees The Pogues venturing towards the area occupied by the latter day Madness, troubled words on top of happy tunes, stormclouds casting shadows across forced smiles ... With their new LP, The Pogues have given us a thing of beauty”
