Description

Rare 1979 Puerto Rican pressing of Virgilio Marti – Guaguancó on Gema Records (LPGS-5060). This album is a true guaguancó treasure—deeply rooted in Afro-Cuban tradition, heavy on percussion and vocals, and delivered with Marti’s commanding presence. Nearly all percussion with vocals makes this a pure roots experience for salsa collectors.

Featuring heartfelt interpretations of Latin standards like Todos Vuelven and Odiame, as well as Marti’s own Que Susto, the album captures the essence of raw, unfiltered street salsa from Puerto Rico’s vibrant scene. The standout Todos Vuelven is considered gold among collectors for its emotional weight and rhythmic power.
