Description
Here's one that hardly ever shows up!
An Irving Mills group calling themselves The Whoopee Makers do
"Dardanella" on 78rpm Vocalion 15763.
Recorded in New York on October 16, 1928, Jimmy McPartland,
Benny Goodman, Jack Teagarden, and Ben Pollack are all sitting in.
On the reverse side, Edward Hilleary Orchestra (as the Rhythm
Makers) play "Wabash Blues." This side was recorded in Los Angeles
on October 23, 1928 as a Brunswick Test, but was rejected, and later
issued only on this Vocalion. The Brunswick recording sheet refers to
"Edward Hilleary, Pacific Coast Club, Long Beach."
The record is in V+ condition with light surface scratches which
makes a few isolated light ticks. There is some light writing on the B
side label.
