Description
Original pressings of the great Solti/Culshaw/Vienna Philharmonic Ring Cycle, twice voted the greatest recordings ever made. The first poll being among readers of Gramophone magazine in 1999, and the second of professional music critics in 2011, for the BBC's Music Magazine.
These records are a wonderful piece of musical history.
'Das Rheingold', featuring George London, Set Svanholm, Gustav Neidlinger, Paul Kuen, Kirsten Flagstad, Claire Watson. 3 LPs. Stereo. 1959.
'Siegfried', featuring Wolfgang Windgassen, Hans Hotter, Birgit Nilsson, Gerhard Stolze, Gustav Niedlinger, Joan Sutherland. 5 LPs. Stereo. 1963.
'Götterdämmerung', featuring Wolfgang Windgassen, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Gustav Neidlinger, Gottlob Frick, Birgit Nilsson, Claire Watson, Christa Ludwig. 6 LPs. Stereo. 1964.
'Die Walküre', featuring James King, Gottlob Frick, Hans Hotter, Régine Crespin, Birgit Nilsson, Christa Ludwig. 5 LPs. Stereo. 1966.
All of the records are in splendid condition, as if they had just left the factory. Totally unmarked, no scratches at all.
Books are all complete, clean and tidy, no tears or writing upon them, except for the Siegfried which is a little scuffed at the very bottom of most pages. It is a very minor cosmetic flaw (see pic).
Boxes are all in very good condition, corners tight and un-scuffed, occasional light marking, but remarkably fine for their age.
