KEMPE – WAGNER – DER RING DES NIBELUNGEN

This is the complete RING cycle as performed at the 1960 Bayreuth Festival with Rudolf Kempe conducting.  This critically acclaimed recording was issued on 16-LPs on the MELODRAM label in 1981.

Major roles are sung by Hermann Uhde as Wotan (alternating with Jerome Hines in WALKURE); Birgit Nilsson as Brunnhilde (alternating with Astrid Varnay in WALKURE); and Hans Hopf as Siegfried.  Other singers include Otakar Kraus as Alberich; Herta Töpper as Fricka; Herold Kraus as Mime; Gottlob Frick as Hunding/Hagen; Aase Nordmo-Loevberg as Sieglinde; and Ingrid Bjöner as Gutrune.

This set is from my personal collection, is in near-mint condition and comes from a smoke-free environment.  LPs were played once and then shelved.  Boxes are not split or bent, but do exhibit some light shelf wear, most noticeably the damage on upper left corner of the GOTTERDAMMERUNG album (but does not obstruct your opening and closing the box); .  All LPs are in their original poly-lined sleeves.

Original booklets are included and show no sign of aging.

The complete collection contains:

DAS RHEINGOLD         3-LPs   catalog no. MEL606

DIE WALKURE             4-LPs   catalog no. MEL607

SIEGFRIED                  4-LPs   catalog no. MEL608

GOTTERDAMMERUNG 5-LPs   catalog no. MEL609
