Description
This is the classic Decca Ring, recorded 1958-64, produced by John Culshaw and conducted by Solti.
The cast includes Kirsten Flagstad as Fricka in Rheingold; Hans Hotter as Wotan; Birgit Nilsson as Brunnhilde; Wolfgang Windgassen as Siegfried; Gustav Neidlinger, Gottlob Frick, and Christa Ludwig, with Joan Sutherland as The Woodbird.
The Ring is on 19 discs. There is a bonus of an analysis of Wagner's system of leitmotivs, by Derych Cooke,on 5 sides, and a performance of the Siegfried Idyll.
Each set is in a cardboard folder, and the whole is mounted in a wooden box (see photo).
The discs have been played only a handful of times (not within the past 15 years) and are unmarked.
The brochures have full text and translation in large type, plus historical information. They are the reason I kept the set long after I was unable to play the discs.
I plan to send this via Hermes at a coat of £8.50, which needs to refelected in the bidding.
