Description

I am back with More Treasures from the Ward Kimball Estate
Most people know of Ward's love of Toy Trains, but he loved and collected many things. This week we have a LOT of great vintage comic books and a variety of other interesting misc. items.
There will be many, many interesting items offered in my upcoming eBay auctions for months to come.
I will provide a letter of provenance from the estate with each item won in these auctions.

This is a great find! This appears to be a private recording of the Firehouse Five Plus Two done at a small studio in Los Angeles. Looks to be in excellent condition, but as I don't have access to a turntable, it is sold as-found, unplayed. Sold as-is, as-found in The Ward Kimball estate collection.

WHO IS WARD KIMBALL ?

For those of you who are not familiar with Ward Kimball, here is a short bio: Ward Walrath Kimball (March 4, 1914 – July 8, 2002) was an Academy Award-winning animator for the Walt Disney Studios. He was one of Walt Disney's team of animators known as Disney's Nine Old Men. While there were many talented anmators at Disney, Ward's efforts stand out as especially unique, even within the Disney organization. Kimball created several classic Disney characters including the Crows in Dumbo; Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the Mad Hatter and the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland; the Mice and Lucifer the Cat from Cinderella; and Jiminy Cricket from Pinocchio. He also animated the famous "Three Caballeros" musical number from the Disney film of the same name. Kimball also produced two editions of a volume titled Art Afterpieces, in which he revised various well-known works of art, such as putting Mona Lisa's hair up in curlers. Kimball was also a jazz trombonist. He founded and led the seven-piece Dixieland band Firehouse Five Plus Two, in which he played trombone. The band made at least 13 LP records and toured clubs, college campuses and jazz festivals from the 1940s to early 1970s. In 2005, the Disneyland Railroad named their newly-acquired Engine ?5 the "Ward Kimball" in his memory.
