WARHORSE

1ST - VERTIGO UK 1970 SUPER SWIRL!
****VERY SCARCE DEBUT *****
6360 015  A REALLY HARD SWIRL TO FIND,ESPECIALLY IN THIS GREAT CONDITION
GREAT PROG W/ST LOUIS/VULTURE BLOOD/RITUAL

*************ELUSIVE PROGMONSTER!!!PERPLEXING SONGCRAFT!!!************AN INSPIRATION TO MANY SUBSEQUENT TOPACTS!!!IN AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE I WOULD BE ADVERTISING A DEEP PURPLE ALBUM AS THE ULTIMATE RARITY AND WARHORSE WOULD HAVE FILLED STADIUMS!!!!!********IT IS TRULY PERPLEXING WHY WARHORSE DID NOT MAKE THE BIG LEAGUE!!!

!!!!A VERY HARD FIND!!! A few hundred (rumoured to be around 300 to 400) were ever pressed of this fantastic prog/psych album. It is hard to understand why they never sold in larger numbers.

In all my years this is only the fourth time I have come across this PROGMONSTER in 30 years. Only 300/400 are rumoured to be about. Rare ... anyone??  Under an intense light there are a few hairlines  to be seen but in a far better than average condition!! Sensational sound quality, I have played this through in its entirety and it was a great joy!!! NO skips or jumps. NO clicks , only the lightest of static on the beginning of each side. The powerful heavy prog easily masks any static. This is really a stunning heavy glossy jet black vinyl .  Inspected under an intense lightsource and angled.

       Background Info:

Warhorse were a British band formed by the former Deep Purple bassist, Nick Simper.  Simper left Deep Purple in 1969, and joined Marsha Hunt's backing band. Not long after, Simper replaced her backing band with Ged Peck on guitar and Mac Poole on drums. When Hunt became pregnant, the band stopped touring, and Simper and Peck re-organized the group as Warhorse. Holt became the band's singer, and they recruited keyboardist Rick Wakeman. When their first demo was recorded in April 1970, Wakeman was replaced by Frank Wilson.

Warhorse signed to Vertigo, and released their debut album, Warhorse in November 1970. Warhorse was managed by Ron Hire, originally part of HEC Enterprises, the original investors in Deep Purple.

The band began to tour, but made little progress, and the album failed to chart. A single, "St. Louis", was also released, which also failed to chart. By 1971, after arguments about style, Peck left and moved to classical guitar playing. He was replaced by Pete Parks.

In June 1972, their next album Red Sea was released, but soon after its release, Warhorse were dropped from the label. Around the same time, Poole decided to leave Warhorse, for Gong. The band carried on, and replaced Poole with Barney James. Wakeman used both Holt and James for his solo album, Journey to the Centre of the Earth. Warhorse's last concert in 1974 was at Polhill College, Bedford.

Warhorse musicians (Holt, Parks, Simper, Wilson, and Poole) have since played together on occasions, including 1985 and 2005; latterly for drummer Mac Poole's 60th birthday.

Vinyl: VG+.  I have played this in FULL twice over> The replay is ASTOUNDING!!! Great powerful audio!! I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more detailed observation. I am very glad to be able to report that this is a fine slab of vinyl without any problems at all and as such worthy of inclusion of any great prog collection. It has a few paper retraction hairlines but these do not cause any trouble.

Gatefold Sleeve:  EX+.  NO creases and rich colours. A great upgrade hardly found in this beautifully preserved condition. Only one tiny colourfill to the back, hardly visible. The spine is fully legible. Otherwise in stunning condition. The inside gatefold is likewise in stunning condition. Beautiful edges and a great crisp opening. These matt Vertigo sleeves are prone to extensive wear. It is extremely hard to find this album at all. On the back a tiny record shop original 70's sticker that reads "Sinfonia". This is in noway disturbing or defacing the sleeve and merely adds character to any album. Finding the sleeve in this supreme condition is nearly impossible!!!

Inner Vertigo Swirl sleeve: VG+/EX . So often gone missing, this has the correct date stamp, the original polylined inner is still fully attached!! A small tear on the diecut circle hence the grade.

This is a unique investment opportunity!!!

This is  a great and seriously collectable super album!!  You will buy into a piece of heavy prog core history.

Labels: EX.

Important : International Postage. This will be sent via Signed For service or Airsure service depending on the destination country. This will be sent fully insured!! Packaging will be thorough with two stiffeners and the disc separated from the sleeve to prevent scything.

In my opinion a very worthy copy which is hard to better especially for the sleeve which is the best of the four Warhorse albums I have ever had! As always I have a no quibble money refund option in place in case you are not 100% satisfied!!!

This is a unique investment opportunity!!! Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. This value of the album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price. Only between 300 and 400 were ever pressed. How many would be left??? VERY SCARCE!!

Important : International postage will be registered and insured if over GBP 41.00.  Please wait for my invoice before paying. Postage will be according to Royal Mail rates. Postage is NOT a money spinning exercise for me.

Though there are rarely ever any problems with my items, I always try my very best to describe everything exactly!  PLEASE REMEMBER to contact me FIRST,  if you have any problems at all, before you leave feedback and star ratings, so I get a chance to turn any negative experience into a positive one!  I can always happily sort anything out for you, if you let me know you have a problem!  This way no one has to leave Negative/Neutral feedback - and we both walk away happy! Similarly with the amount of stars, anything less than a full 5 * rating is effectively detrimental to a seller's rating as lower ratings will incur higher Final Value Fees  and lower priority in the bidlists eventually making it unattractive to list items on Ebay at all. I know of at least one major previous Ebay seller who has decided not to list via Ebay again. Please do NOT bid if you cannot give me at least 1 chance to sort everything out to your FULL satisfaction in the unlikely event of a problem.  Thanks again!!

This an excellent investment opportunity!!! Any questions please ask me and I will try to answer soon.
