Description

WARPIG s/t heavy Canadian blaster FontHill Records!!

1970/Cdn/Fonthill F-103……here’s a rare original first pressing of this monster Canadian Private pressing. The uni pack gatefold cover is in solid VG to VG+ condition, the corners and seams have wear, light shelf wear and a handful of light handling creases on the front cover, the back shows a moderate amount of ring wear top and bottom, clean inner gatefold with minimal wear, no splits or delete. The vinyl is in VG to VG+ condition with light scuffs/scratches and light play wear. The record plays really well with real good fidelity. The light  noise I heard was mainly in the dead space and in the occasional spot were the music is quiet, and not many of those. I have played this record from start to finish and overall plays excellent with no skips, sticks, loud or repetitive noise etc. The labels are clean with some light spindle wear and a couple of small light scratches. If you’re looking for an original pressing at a low starting price here it is! Please check my auctions for other rock and psych lp’s. Good Luck and thanks for looking!

Track Listing

Flaggit
Tough Nuts (Melody With Balls)
Advance in A Minor
Rock Star
Sunflight
UXIB
The Moth

The band was seen by a label owner and were signed to FontHill Records in late 1968. They continued on the circuit, while writing original material and financing the recording of their first lp. With the production help of Robert Thomson, it finally saw the light of day in the spring of 1970. The album was full of raw power, with inspirational remnants from everything from the British Invasion to the surf sound, from Chet Atkins to Black Sabbath. Reminiscent of a less-structured Deep Purple album, tracks like the lead-off "Flaggit" and "Tough Nuts" gave you the unbridled passion of a young band doing it their way, while "Advance in 'A' Minor" showed the band's tight structure and classical influences, in what could only be described as 'early eclectic post psychadelic'. A common theme throughout the lp was the band's pounding rhythms and straight forward guitar licks.

A 45 of "Rock Star" b/w "Flaggit" made the rounds of the radio stations, and along with their live show, the following grew. FontHill was bought out by London Records in '71, leaving the band in the lurches as to their status for several months. The band carried on throughout the circuit, when they discovered they were without a label. London reissued Warpig's debut a year later, repackaged and remastered.

Please DO NOT bid if you don't plan to follow through with the transaction Satisfaction Guaranteed. I have been selling records by mail order for 25+ years. Check my feedback and bid with confidence!

///GRADING///

MINT: as stated with no defects

M- or Mint Minus, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.

EXCELLENT: between VG++ and M- , still very collectable, visually and sonicly clean.

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much.

VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
