WATER INTO WINE BAND – HARVEST TIME – PRIVATE PRESSING
The band’s 1976 ultra-rare follow-up recording to their first album (Hill Climbing), this Private Pressing catalogue no. CJT 002, was only issued to fans who ordered it at one of the band’s last gigs. After many delays it was not issued until 1977, as explained in a genuine original typed letter which will be supplied with the album. It reads as follows:
69, Glisson Road,
Cambridge CB1 2HG.
12.5.77.
It’s Harvest Time at last, and only ten months late. We are really sorry about the delays. As we indicated before, we have been concerned about the quality of the album pressing, and there has been some question over its performance on certain turntables. We would ask, therefore, that if you are at all dissatisfied with the way your album is playing on your equipment, please return it to us as soon as possible, indicating the nature of the fault and where it occurs.
If the fault is consistent with the problems we have been finding ourselves, then we shall refer these complaints to M.G.O., who have been handling the record production for us. They have agreed that if we receive above a certain percentage of customer complaints they will approach Pye Records, who did the cutting and pressing, and request another re-cut at Pye’s expense, believing that we would now have a strong case for this.
If Pye agree to this, then we would hope to have a replacement within a month or so, which we would send on to you immediately. If you are not satisfied with this arrangement, we are willing at any time to refund your order, although we would be sad to have to do this, and again would like to thank everyone for their great patience.
with best wishes,
Water Into Wine Band.
Obviously the original purchaser was happy as he retained the copy which is now being offered!
The group comprised Bill Thorp, Ray Wright, Pete McMunn, Trevor Sandford (voices and various instruments) together with Gari Williams (flute), George Caird (oboe), John Payne (clarinet), William Prince (horn) Jeremy Ward (bassoon) Dave Cooke (guitar) and Judy Mackenzie (vocals).
Tracks: Wedding Song, Waiting For Another Day, Scottish Suite, Patience Is A Virtue, Moonglow, Harvest Time.
The disc is near mint with no spindle marks (maybe played just once to prove it was OK, or maybe never played at all!). The matt card sleeve has lyrics on the back. It is pristine except for a few small brown spots at the bottom RH corner (foxing).
