Ray Cline, from Statesville NC, is what bluegrassers call a “real flashy picker.” Although completely comfortable with a simple tune, he can play complicated licks and melodies with ease and individuality. He is known for his ability to do the same tune many different ways and still command an uncanny continuity no matter which way he does it.

Wayne Henderson, from Sugar Grove VA, none the less flashy, takes a different approach to a tune. He stays more within the traditional limits of a tune while adding his own personal touch with amazingly clean lift-offs and runs. His picking method is unique and has been called “pinch picking” by some of his friends because he plays exclusively with fingerpicks and appears to be “pinching” the strings when playing. In addition to his music, Wayne is also one of the finest craftsmen of musical instruments. (The best-selling book, Clapton’s Guitar, was written about an acoustic guitar Wayne Henderson built for guitar legend Eric Clapton.)

Herb Key, the bass player, from Moravian Falls NC, is a friend of Ray and Wayne. He is an accomplished folksinger and guitarist as well as a fine bass man. Herb has played bass about seven years with the High County Ramblers of which Wayne is also a member.

Notes: Minimal surface noise. A good cleaning is all this one needs.

LABEL GRADE: VG+
Notes: Neither side has ring wear, tape, spindle wear, or writing. Standard Heritage Records black text logo on red. Text is black on red. 

SLEEVE GRADE: VG+
Notes: Original plain white paper with circles cut in the centers of each side to display labels. No marks, no tape, no stains, a few crinkles, no splits, slight yellowing.

JACKET GRADE: VG+
Notes: No visible ring wear, no splits. No marks, no writing, slight crinkling. Edges, corners, and spine in good shape. Original shrink wrap is open but still tightly clinging. Top right corner is a little bit rough. (See my original scan.)

Note: I haven't cleaned this 43-year-old vinyl record because everybody seems to prefer their own methods. I'll leave the cleaning up to the buyer. Also, I'm not a professional vinyl seller or buyer. This comes from my own collection.
