CRAIG CHASE VINYL
Don (ccvinylman) Larter, Owner
General Policies- 1. Honest, conservative play-grading,using a strong light, high quality stereo equipment and Goldmine standards (please see my MEsite for reasons why I perform this time-consuming service for my customers). I emphasisize the soundof the record rather than the appearance of either the vinyl or the jacket (though appearance istaken into account):
- Sealed = Unopened and unplayed; condition unknown
- NM+ = Near Mint Plus. Extraordinarily clean and quiet; may not have been played
- NM = Near Mint. Clean and quiet, regardless of scuffs or apparent defects
- NM- = Near Mint Minus. Less quiet than NM, with a bit more background noise regardless of its source.
- VG++ = Very good plus plus. Noisier than NM-; may say why.
- VG+ = Very good plus. Noisier than VG++; will say why.
- Label/Data: Westminster: WL 5112 mono, original red label, made in U.S.
2. Professional cleaning (again, please see my ME site for reasons why I perform this time-consuming service for my customers) of virtually every record and sleeve sold, by using proprietary methods that are extremely gentle and effective on records.
3. The offering of a wide variety of repertoire and genres, particularly classical, at many different price points.
4. Fair dealing, prompt and friendly communication, and speedy delivery.
5. My expecting payment within 10 days of purchase, unless negotiated otherwise.
6. A no-questions-asked return policy if our play-grades differ significantly. I will even refund the return shipping charges (though not the initial, to you, shipping charges).
7. Posting of positive feedback for high bidders who pay in a timely fashion (or who email me saying why they do not); posting of negative

Item DescriptionLeopold Wlach's Mozart Clarinet Quintet is a much-sought-after rarity, and for good reason. Wlach's tone is superb and perhaps even unsurpassed in modern times. After listening to his playing on this record, you can see why Salieri, in the film "Amadeus," waxes rhapsodic about the second movement of this deservedly famous quintet. The Salieri character (played by F. Murray Abraham) describes the movement as started out simply, like a squeeze box (i.e., a small accordion), and then evolves slowly into a beatific melody which could make the gods cry. Overly dramatic? Yes. Close to being true? You betcha!
Best wishes in the bidding. You'll need it!
- Description:
---Orchestra/Group: Vienna Konzerhaus Quartet
---Soloist(s): Clarinetist Leopold Wlach; with Anton Kamper, Erich Weis, Franz Kvarda, Karl Maria Titze, Ludwig Beinl
---Conductor: N/A
---Work(s) Performed: Mozart: Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K.581
- Condition of LP(s): Visual grade: VG+/VG+. Very clean and shiny. Shallow, irregularly shaped scratch on s.1, b.1 at beginning. Play grade: NM-/NM-. There is crackle throughout both sides, but it is relatively inconspicuous. I did not detect any loud ticks or pops--or thumps from vinyl bumps (I didn't see any). The scratch at the beginning of s.1 does tick, but not loudly and not for long. Overall, a fine pressing with minimal wear. Westminster was not renown for their quiet pressings, at least in the early stages of their tenure. Their blue-label pressings tended to be quieter.
- Condition of Jacket/Box: Very good plus. Seams are fine. There is a little top-paper missing on front at open end (see picture #1). There is a sticker on the spine. Normally I would try to remove it, but I decided not to. Top right corner is bent. Corners show wear. Spine is fairly rough, with a small dent in it. Jacket is quite clean, however.
