By the mid-'70s, Seattle had almost a dozen exciting big-band funk/soul outfits tearing up the town. Here's the proof: this single illustrates Berry Gordy's motto "It's What's In The Grooves That Count". The Big Sound, in the mold of Tower Of Power and Kool & The Gang, reigned supreme at live clubs in the Central District, and Seattle Pure Dynamite was right there.
Here's an UNPLAYED MINT repop from the high point in that awesome Seattle soul scene. This is the 8th single in the acclaimed Wheedle's Groove box set of ten singles issued in 2011. Even this reissue is rare...only 2000 sets were released worldwide. The single faithfully reproduces the original labels, and the recording is superbly remastered to give you the sound of the seventies. If you stepped out of a time machine 39 years ago and bought the 45 at a corner record shop in the "CD" (Central District, where most Seattle black folks lived in '76), it wouldn't be this nice!
