Description
Despite many subsequent Third Man special editions, the Triple Inchophone set remains a favorite! This complete set includes the Bandai "8-Ban" player and the 7-record set which includes Top Special along with the original gift ribbon and box. I've played the record no more than 3 or 4 times including the demonstrations below. Everything's in excellent condition, indiscernible from the day I bought 'em.
Note: The 8-Ban player is a children's toy not an audiophile turntable. In other words, Mobile Fidelity fans will be horrified and lo-fi fans will be delighted at the tinny, monofonic blasts emanating from its one tiny speaker. The Inchophone records were individually lathe-cut as opposed to being a uniform pressing. In short, some discs get along with the player better than others. On the more temperamental discs, adjusting the stylus weight is required which is accomplished with a handy dandy gum eraser (included, of course).
Here are links to two YouTube uploads of this player in action. This first video shows the "7 Nation Army" disc being played. This second video shows the "Fell In Love With A Girl" disc being played and me adjusting the stylus weight along with the twiddling the pitch and volume controls. If you're playing a disc and it requires the counterweight, simply do what I do in the video: put the counterweight at the back of the tone arm on the left side. Back and to the left, back and to the left...
