Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. Rare ADVANCED RELEASE WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL
Original 1972 first press...for whatever reason...the absolute most difficult to find BLACK OAK album and of course as these things go, one, if not thee, best of their storied history!
It's a custom cut die-cut cover opening from the middle, uh, just like the first ASH RA TEMPEL ....
"KEEP THE FAITH" the diamond in the rough when speaking the total discography output of Black Oak Arkansas... We find THIS album tremendously interesting, exciting even, thanks in large part to the uncanny vocal acrobatics of the perpetually shirtless James “Jim Dandy” Mangrum. Whatever the case, "Keep The Faith" finds Jim Dandy possessed. Big Jim has no control of the sounds coming out of his vocals whatsoever. All he can do is let rip and hope nobody gets hurt. It’s scary but in a wonderful way -- that is, if you possess a liking to raw & rowdy vocals backed by a tough rock attack, but ya better find a state-of-the-art batting helmet as head-wear when you strap this platter on...
The band’s 1972 SECOND LP "Keep the Faith" includes all of the hallmarks of the Black Oak Arkansas sound—a three-guitar attack that is far too psychedelic to fit neatly into the “Southern Rock” genre, a competent back-beat, and the snake oil ululations of Mangrum, who pitches his screeching vocals just about everywhere. Nevertheless, Black Oak Arkansas deliver some more than decent songs on offer here.
The title track is a funked-up slice of rarified rock-out boogie complete with a great sing-along and foot stomping ending. If this one doesn't liven up the listener, then you're dead! Just as well, “Fever in My Mind” is a psychedelic romp on which the lead guitarist goes batshit and Jim Dandy goes right over the top. Why, his grunts and “Oh no!s” on this one alone are worth the price of the album. Meanwhile, “Revolutionary All American Bands” boasts a pretty rural rock melody complete with Dickey Betts-school guitar and sounds just swell coming out of the hi-fi...
“The Big One’s Still Coming” is about “havin’ an earthquake in our waterbed” “Wowww! Look out!” cries Jim Dandy, before going into the best Sasquatch orgasm ever put to record. There have been songs about sex, but few of them are this much pure fun! While “Don’t Confuse What You Don’t Know” is a psychedelic song with bong-loads of cool guitar and a driving beat, and “Feet on Earth, Head in Sky” is Southern Rock at its high water mark. Which leaves us to the ever compulsive “White Headed Woman,” an apt demonstration of what can happen if you give a bunch of rural Arkansas hippies too much LSD. From its spoken introduction (complete with crackling fire) to its psychofunk close, this one is all over the place, and can aptly be called "wonderfully insane." Our fave among faves on the platter ... it's blistering!
All Said, "Keep The Faith" is a solid hard boogie rocker with um-teen drive and spark... It's Jim Dandy to the rescue. He’s an uncontrollable act of nature of the sort that devastates innocent trailer parks, and the only singer about whom it can rightfully be said that he’s always big fun to listen to, but you’d damn well better be ready to duck.......,.,,,,...
