RARE....1971 first pressing hardrock collectible by MAYPOLE, highly sought after by collector circles over the universe...wild heavy fuzzrock jammer of the best kind!
Somewhere between KAK and SRC, much beautiful, heartfelt psych-rock, with a strangely loose/tight approach to timing kick ass fuzz rock with memorable melodic injections. Marvellous tracks all over the place and really one of the great gems of the style if you dig this kind of stuff. Uplifting if you play it at the right time. The guitar work here is fantastic from beginning to end in this Maryland prog psych Lp that features really ambitious writing, especially the story of drowning sailors in "Under a Wave" and the "Henry Stared" mini-epic about a man's revelation.
A former Maypole band member reflects how the very involved producer created the recording process -- dividing one track into 2 with a sudden explosion sound effects. In other places the record is filled with sound effects injected in the immediacy and power of the band's attack. Overall, the band shows undeniable talent and promise, and the guitar playing is intricate and heavy at once -- it's fun to listen to, and to hear the ideas and the musicianship.

CONDITION: The Cover: solid all over...the original colors are bright...a thick old style cover in top levels "EX" (excellent to M- with virtually no problems other than a little light handling visible on back cover (still clean), which is really saying something with the fragile matte finish cover which would normally show dirt and soil so easily ...no split seams, no bends and no writing....
The Vinyl: all glossy over both sides, thered is only a minor little mark at very beginning that causes a few revolutions of little ticks, otherwise the other 99% is clean and smooth. The grooves overall appear with no more than a light minor scuff or two not affecting audio playback... vastly "EX" (excellent) and enjoyable, apart from the minor start up described. Both Colossus labels are CLEAN
