This Mint copy of a legendary Northern Soul single from 1969 (or thereabouts) has only been played once or twice, having languished in a record company vault for 30 years. Promo copies of this single featured 'Take My Love' on both sides - which helps explain why 'Check It Baby' is so hard-to-find. Included in John Manship's Rarest-Of-The-Rare section and much, much scarcer than the better-known 'Funky 8 Corners'. One of the finest examples of New Jersey soul of the period, from the early days of Joe and Sylvia Robinson's empire of labels, 'Check It Baby' was strangely excluded from their later album On Scene '70. Willie Feaster & Co. at their best!
