Argus is the most popular Wishbone Ash album and widely considered the greatest by fans and reviewers.
It was named "Album of the Year" in the 1972 year-end issue of Sounds magazine and features a blend of progressive rock, folk, and heavy metal and is considered a landmark album in the progression of twin-lead guitar harmonisation later adopted by many other bands.
This is the quintessential Wishbone Ash recording and the one that best realised the group's complex vision

LABELS: EXCELLENT++
Clean, bright and unmarked labels with just a handful of spindle traces
VINYL Visual: EXCELLENT++
The vinyl surfaces retain their original deep glossy sheen. There are light hairlines visible under strong light but these have no audible significance
VINYL Audio: NEAR MINT
Outstanding audio quality throughout with a full, deep, rich and warm sound and my play-check at loud volume found no audio issues of note - no clicks/pops, groove-wear or distortion and very clean on the quieter sections ie the acoustic intro to 'Time was' - plays beautifully - great copy
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT
Apart from some rubbing to the spine (all text is clear) and some general light storage wear, the sleeve is in great shape. Always a difficult sleeve to find in decent condition but I would say that this is a pretty fine example
NOTE: Please let me put to rest the common misconception that the Black MCA labels are the first ones for early Wishbone Ash LPs - they are NOT.
The Black MCA label was the last design Decca used for MCA for 1973/4 presses (the first pressings of Wishbone 4 released in 1973 has the black label).
The first two Ash LPs have the two coloured (dogbone design) labels in Blue/Black, Red/Pink, Red/Yellow, Orange/Purple or Red/Brown.
In 1972 (Argus) the label was two-coloured with a hexagon design in the centre.
After these came the Black label, and in 1974 MCA severed links with UK Decca and switched its licensing deal to EMI.
These later labels have the rainbow insignia and are EMI, not Decca pressings.
