WISHBONE ASH - Argus ORIG MCA LP MDKS 8006 (UK, Stereo, 1972)
Happy to present a near perfect copy of Ash’s greatest LP - the original full black matt label with the -2L / -2L matrices and original matt gatefold sleeve, made by Robert Stace, showing the MDKS 8006 on the spine.
THIS IS MUCH HARDER TO LOCATE THAN THE BLACK/BLUE LABEL!! The rarest label variant of Ash’s masterpiece!!!!
Anyway, for Ash and Prog collectors in general, the good news is that the vinyl is in a close to unbeatable ONCE PLAYED state!!! The previous owner has vouched that he only ever played this the one time after purchase in 1972, storing it away after as he didn’t care for it!
The original Robert Stace gatefold is a very satisfactory EX- (Excellent Minus) with just some light rubs, slight corner rubs including a bump to the front, bottom right, a leaning spine (still solid, not split and all text fully legible) and light ring impression both to front and rear (hardly noticeable on the front!) away from near Mint. Hardly any edge wear, great sharp opening edges with no real feathering, no writing, no stickers or residue, no tears or splits and a flat lying gate with no rippling or dishing. The matt black labels show NO SPINDLE TRAILS AT ALL!! Obviously NO writing, residue, tears or other damage. Fabulous!!
The medium weight vinyl is in hard to beat M- (Mint Minus) condition. Full shine, no scratches, scuffs, hairlines. NO dirt or dust pockets, no bubbles or craters. For ultra observant collectors there are ultra fine sleeve trails, but hardly visible and in standard lighting you’ll ask me what I’m talking about!! IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays with stone silence throughout. So that’s NO snap, crackle, pops, ticks, clicks, hiss or distortion. NOTHING! Just sounds perfect really - there are no faults at all to this disc - looks and plays like new.
Not a rare LP, but scarce in its 1st black press and especially in such a fresh state as this. Low start, no reserve.
