Sleeve
Beautiful album cover with sun shining thro trees, showing an early pressing of this album. Later editions did not show the sun on the front cover. Slight wear on top edge. Corners nice and sharp. Spine square and solid. Unlaminated gatefold, opens crisp and sharp to a deluge of B&W photos of the group. No feathering to opening edges and show little signs of wear. Glue lifting a little on lower bottom edge. Sleeve grading near mint!
Labels
Showing that record has hardly been played. Spindle hairlines minimal and no spindle wear to report. Lovely collector’s item-clean and unfaded MCA red/brown labels as new. Iridescent silver arrow, the trademark of MCA ,pointing to the spindle-stunning.
Vinyl
Beautiful copy. Hardly a blemish to be seen. No scratches or surface marks that really catch the eye. Really nice feel to this one giving a supreme example of an early thick heavy pressing. Again the vinyl looks almost perfect. A fantastic collector’s item with a mirror like sheen to die for!!
Audio
Plays superbly. Brilliant tracks on this one and is guaranteed to get every one off their seats and “bopping” !!(that’s what we called it in our day). Audio channels retain maximum clarity-very minimal background interference can be heard in the quieter moments. Near silent grooves between tracks. Awesome sound quality. There will not be anyone complaining. Electric guitars wail and siren from speaker to speaker, percussion hammers out in the background and soft lyrics blend superbly well , producing one of Ash’s best albums . Ash reigned supreme in the early 70s and this album brings out their obvious talents and pure genius. Mega rock group.
Summary
Many copies about but many are under par and have got damaged along the way. This is an exceptional copy of a very first early pressing of a classic rock album. Has everything to catch the collector’s eye…beautiful red/brown MCAs, a polished jet black vinyl with a thick heavyweight feel, and audio channels showing no groove wear playing magnificently with no apparent distortion. With a near mint album sleeve, a collector will find this one very hard to resist.
Please check out my other Wishbone Ash LP currently on auction, their debut album ,which will be ending soon.
