WITH THE BEATLES REEL TO REEL TWIN TRACK TAPE RECORD
3+3/4” per second. MONO 1963 PARLOPHONE RELEASE TA-PMC 1206
It’s 50 years since the fab four started! This was the Beatles 2nd official album and, in those days, sales of pre-recorded twin track reel to reel tape were as common alongside vinyl l.p.s as cassettes a few decades later. It is still in good condition and plays ok and is tightly wound to the reel. The original white leader tape is still attached and has album's identification information on it and says "the Parlophone Company”
The cardboard box is in very good condition for its age and the iconic cover by Robert Freeman still presents a strong image. However, there are some minor wear marks cause by repeated handling but I was 12 when I bought it and preserving it for posterity was the last thing on my mind! There is a white smudge on the black area to the right of George Harrison and below Paul McCartney’s neck, two small white dots to the right of John Lennon’s hair and two on Ringo Starr’s nose! (Those who like to read occult messages in Beatles album art can have a field day with this). There is also some wear to the right hand edge of the box, where my hot sticky little fingers would repeatedly prise it open. The rest of the box is all in good condition except for the two small marks left by the adhesive tape that the shop used to seal it, but they do not detract from the visual clarity. The original card inner is still intact and holds the tape in the correct position. Please see photograph.

Even if you don’t have a reel to reel recorder and can’t play it, this tape is a lovely piece of genuine memorabilia from a bygone time that changed the world and would grace any collection. I’m not a dealer of any sort, but am just downsizing and having to clear things out, so I’m starting it at a low price so a genuine collector can enjoy it without paying rip off prices.
