AUTOGRAPHED BY KEN DARBY!
THE WIZARD OF OZ: FOUR-RECORD 78 RPM ALBUM (74). NOTE THAT THE FIRST RECORD (Sides 1 and 2) have a piece missing from the outside of the record (see photos), but the rest of that record plays perfectly. The other six sides are fine, as those records are not damaged. My guess is you can find the missing record somewhere else.
The main attraction here is the signature by Ken Darby, the American composer, vocal arranger, lyricist, and conductor, who also provided vocals for the Munchkinland mayor in The Wizard of Oz (1939), who was portrayed in the film by Charlie Becker. And if you also collect Judy Garland, that's an added bonus!
This set was owned by a prominent music agent in Hollywood, but I'm not sure what his connection to Ken Darby was. The signature is made out to a "Henry" or "Heury" or something like that, but I haven't been able to figure it out.
The records don't appear to have been played more than a handful of times, if that many, and have typical 78 RPM sound, which means they won't sound like modern LPs and CDs! LOL! But they are certainly listenable. The binding is loose in some areas and you might want to glue it or strengthen it with black tape, but otherwise it's pretty solid for its vintage and construction. The brown paper sleeves are all in perfect shape.
I will ship to winner via Media Mail within three days of completion of auction, and it will be well-packed. These eight records weigh a lot, but I don't overcharge on postage!
