Along with the German only 1975 release of Lazy Farmer on Songbird, 'Happiness Was Free' from the following year must rank up with it as Wizz Jones' scarcest release in the cannon...
Pressed in a one off small run on the rare Intercord Xenophon nearly 40 years ago this strong glossy german pressing has survived well with only some notable exceptions that we will describe in detail below.
This rare edition comes with the even scarcer vg to ex insert one mark with all lyrics and notes on each song by Wizz. Poly lined slightly split dust bag that does the job. Glossy cover with all minor blemishes but a good VG+ to ex-
Rare Intercord Xenophon matt black and silver text labels have almost no noticeable spindle or tears, writing.

Tested in full on full treble to expose all that lay in the grooves.

Side One opens with Propinquity a great song with quiet background that has background ticks, crackle that doesn't detract from the song no groove distortion, clear sound! Some fine tick in guitar solo VG - to vg+
Country Comfort comes next with similar crackle at start some louder tick that doesn't last long and over all VG to maybe vg+ with clicks in between this song and the next which has background and clicks, ticks but still a good listen of the title track with no skipping just great guitar playing from Wizz.'s Texan Epiphone! Vg - to vg pops etc in between track .
Nathaniel is next and another self written classic from Wizz about former head of Transatlantic Records if it's true! Quieter with tick in background but doesn't get in the way of this fine number. the German pressings were of a high standard so are not ruined by ticks, noise like other pressings around Europe at the time. This track is generally VG to Vg+ possibly. Great.
Closing side one is Wizz's lovely The Man With The Banjo in a nice deep tuning. ust the guitar and vocal with odd click pop ticks in the background but a nice sound, strong and bold vg- to vg+


Side Two opens with the beautiful A Common or Garden Mystery again surface noise more at the outer opening grooves with a couple of noise interference (could've been caused by too much pressure on the stylus as it can be seen on the playing surface) lasting a burst of a few seconds just before Wizz comes in singing.Good news is this strong pressing doesn't skip as a result and before you know it' gone for the song to travel through the speakers with odd crackle and pop. G to Vg possibly plus
Black Dog has similar interference four or so times in similar short bursts but again gone before Wizz comes in singing. The rest of the song has similar pops etc but doesn't get in the way of this great song by Wizz.so a G to Mainly vg to vg+
Robin Williamson's beautiful Womankind song is a quieter track with just Wizz and that old Epiphone Texan...smattering of crackle, click surface but a strong sound with great cello!
The brilliant Living Outside The Law comes next with some occasional background but the track wins through well.Pete Berryman (The Famous Jugband) plays some fine lead here.

Wizz returns for the final song with Right Now's brilliant City Of The Angels again which plays with some clicks pops ticks at the start. Pretty quiet after that and the song does it thing with occasional pop and background more noticeable in fade. Vg to Ex-

You will not be disappointed if taken into account the above gradings and blemishes etc although each turntable will differ of course. Good luck!!
