Description

WOLFRILLA “Song for Jimmi” RARE Aussie ASTOR 7” British HEAVY PROG PSYCH Jimi Hendrix tribute

Wolfrilla – Song for Jimmi 7” (orig. Australia Astor A 7213)

Australian Release date: August 1971 (UK Release date: February 1971).

On offer here is a VERY RARE original Australian ASTOR issue of “Song for Jimmi” 7” single by WOLFRILLA.  This 45 is most likely a studio only recording project released as a tribute to JIMI HENDRIX who died in September 1970.  The A-side sounds similar to GRAVY TRAIN and the vocalist certainly has a remarkable likeness to Norman Barrett.  There are also LED ZEPPELIN and JUICY LUCY influences.  The flipside reminds me of 1970 SLADE, but with a strong nod in the HENDRIX direction.

Composer credits include GEOFF HART and KEN PAYNE, but I have not been able to track down any further information regarding the highly mysterious WOLFRILLA.

THIS 45 IS WHAT SEPARATES THE CONTENDERS FROM THE PRETENDERS IN THE MUSIC SWEEPSTAKES.  Be sure to check out the YouTube links below!
