Wildly eccentric New Jersey singer-wrong-righter Will Wood returned with his second studio album, Self-Ish, under the comedic yet demonic banner Will Wood And The Tapeworms. Out in 2016, it followed the 2015 debut Everything Is a Lot, continuing his exploration of complex, theatrical songwriting; recorded at Backroom Studios in Rockaway and produced by Kevin Antreassian of The Dillinger Escape Plan, the album again flaunts Wood's patent fusion dark cabaret, punk jazz, gypsy punk, and glam rock, with lyrics identity, ego, perception, and funny flirtations with delusion; the standout moment occur in sprawling multi-part compositions such as 'The Song With Five Names...You Can Never Know'.
