Description

WAGNER Der Ring Des Nibelungen  -  Solti  -  the original Decca 33? rpm stereo LPs in the very substantial box that Decca provided when the set was first issued - later they downgraded to cardboard!  This is wood and very sturdy indeed, with an amazing 3D front - see photos.  Worth buying just to display the case!

Comprises the 4 operas (Das Rheingold,  Die Walküre, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung) with a stellar cast (even includes Joan Sutherland, singing the Woodbird) with the Vienna Philharmonic, conducted by Georg Solti, plus "An Introduction to The Ring", a marvellously clear and informative lecture on the Leitmotiven of the Ring by Deryck Cooke with  copious musical illustrations played by the Vienna Phil, some of them specially recorded, others taken from the set itself, and including a full size booklet containing the text of the lecture and copious musical illustrations (this was also issued as a CD, but by reducing the size of the booklet to fit a CD case, they made the musical illustrations almost illegible)

Each opera is in a separate slip case, with its full size booklet containing libretto, synopsis and lots ofother articles etc. and each LP is in a separate case and inner sleeve.

22 LPs in all - 19 for the operas, plus 3 for the Introduction to the Ring

Altogether a most luxurious package!!

All records are in good to very good condition and the outer packaging is virtually unmarked - some slight rubbing on the outer box but no more than this

The complete package weighs in at just over 10Kg, so the postage cost is £16 (Royal Mail Parcel).  I will not ship outside the UK  Buyer is welcome to collect to save this.

I'll try to answer any questions - do please ask

Thanks for looking and Good Luck - this really is something very special, so you shouldn't let someone else win!
